1. What SplitKind is

SplitKind is a computer software product that provides legal information about divorce in Texas, helps you organize your situation into a structured dossier, and (when you choose) connects you to a Texas-licensed family-law attorney.

SplitKind is not a law firm. SplitKind does not provide legal advice. SplitKind is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. We provide this product within the meaning of Texas Government Code §81.101(c).

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create a SplitKind account. Provide accurate information and keep your password confidential. You’re responsible for activity on your account.

3. Paid consult

The guided consult is free and the dossier is generated for free as a preview. To unlock the full dossier (read all sections + PDF download), a one-time payment is required: $49 for the dossier only, or $99 to also be introduced to a verified Texas family-law attorney. Payment is processed by Stripe. The fee is non-refundable once the full dossier has been unlocked.

Attorneys on the panel are charged a flat $99 only when a couple chooses them on the platform. If the chosen attorney backs out within the 24-hour confirmation window, the charge is refunded and the case reopens to other interested attorneys.

4. Attorney handoff

When you choose to share your dossier with an attorney, that attorney becomes your service provider, not SplitKind. The attorney-client relationship forms between you and the attorney if you agree to work together. Any legal advice or representation provided by the attorney is governed by the rules of the State Bar of Texas.

5. Attorney participants

If you are an attorney using SplitKind to express interest in cases:

• You confirm you are licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• You agree to a flat $99 charge each time a couple chooses you on the platform. SplitKind never takes a percentage of your case fees.
• You agree to follow the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct when contacting SplitKind users, including Rule 7.03 on solicitation.

6. AI-generated content

Information and dossiers produced by our AI assistant are best-effort summaries based on your inputs. You are responsible for reviewing your dossier before sharing it. Do not rely on the dossier as a final legal record.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit information about anyone other than yourself or your spouse.
• Use the assistant to draft documents intended to deceive a court or opposing party.
• Attempt to bypass the UPL safeguards built into the product or extract bulk data via the API.

8. Termination

You may close your account any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that we reasonably believe are being used for unlawful purposes, or where we’re required to do so by law. Soft-deleted accounts can be restored within 30 days.

9. Disclaimers

SplitKind is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties (express or implied) about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of the information provided. Nothing in this product is legal advice.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, SplitKind’s total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid us in the prior 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the product or its legal context changes. We’ll post the new version with an updated date and, for substantive changes, notify you by email.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Disputes will be brought in Texas state or federal courts.
